The Lively Stone Church of God, Inc. was founded in 1967 by the late Elder Joseph B. White. It had it's start in an abandoned house in Neelyville, MO. The small membership then moved to a store front building-still in Neelyville, MO.

Elder White and members began to make plans to build a better place for the members to worship. They purchased a tract of land on which to build. During this time Elder James L. Price moved from St. Louis, MO to Neelyville, MO. Elder Price became the assistant pastor to Elder White. Before the building project could begin; God called Elder White from labor to reward; thus leaving Elder James L. Price as the senior pastor of the Lively Stone Church of God in 1972. Elder Price and the members built that house of worship and worshipped there in Neelyville, MO until that building burned in December 1981.

The membership then moved to Poplar Bluff, MO some seventeen miles north of Neelyville, MO. After a brief time worshipping in a borrowed building, the congregation purchased a church building at 522 Relief Street., Poplar Bluff, MO. The congregation worshipped there from 1982 until July 23, 2008 when, once again the building was destroyed by fire.

During the twenty six years at 522 Relief St., the Lord elevated Pastor Price from Elder Price, to District Elder Price, and then to Bishop Price. The Church continues to worship at 522 Relief St. in a newly built edifice.

On Novemeber 28, 2010 Bishop Price was the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate degree which was conferred upon him by the Midwest Seminary of Bible Theology for commitment and service in Leadership and Community Outreach. About Our Church you can read here.
